Well hello there my fellow glow getters!

Firstly HUGE apologies for my absence on here…  its been a rather long time since my last post.  ( Does this feel like its a You Glow Girl confessional? )

Well its not,  ( so there will be no hail Mary’s )  its been a brilliantly busy summer, full of lots travel due to birthdays weddings and work.

Anyway I am back! and what better way to kick off the autumn season than with a rather apt blog close to all our hearts about Getting That Glow!?

I am writing this fresh off the plane ( jet lag is a bitch and I will write something on that at a later date )  but first I wanted to tell you about my trip this morning to The Glow Bar  to have an infrared sauna. Now I am not sure many people know the huge skin and health benefits of infrared sauna and how it differs from a traditional sauna..

Firstly the sauna isn’t hot when you enter, which initially is a little confusing, rather than heating you up from the outside, the infrared heats you up from the inside, and boy does it get hot!!

The temperature can be adjusted to what you want to do be but ideally it creeps up to 75degrees and the optimal time to be in there is 40/45 minutes.

I went in naked, you can wear a bikini if you’re more comfortable and I wrapped my hair in a towel to protect it.

I read a book or a magazine to pass the time and I sweated A LOT.

My skin looked and felt glowing as well as feeling super smooth everywhere although I did look a little like a strawberry for about 30 or so minutes and It’s not just a superficial glow as it has been proven to stimulate collagen production and heels at a deeper level due to the heat.

It increases energy which was great for me after the long flight and the time difference, boosts the circulation as well as increases the metabolism which helps to burn calories,  so great for helping with weight-loss , also all the sweating eliminates water rendition which I had in an abundance from flying and also my period, removes toxins and metals such as mercury from the body for people like me who eat a lot of fish..

The heat also release all those feel good endorphins, lowers cortisol stress levels, improves sleep quality and lifts the mood, I was buzzing!!

Any aches and pains, muscle soreness etc can be helped with infrared too. All in all a brilliant way to spend 45 minutes and get a whole multitude of benefits- now admittedly I cheated a little and had to take a couple of breathers by sticking my head out the door as I was roasting! Next trip I will not be defeated however!

The Glow Bar cafe and shop upstairs has a calm healing vibe to it. Sage sticks, crystals, gorgeous skincare and herbal powders can be bought and there is a cute cafe that serves delicious smoothies, herbal teas, açai bowls and Moon Milks  (£5) you get a free Moon Milk with each sauna.  I opted for the Siren, with Spirulina, Pearl, Marine Collagen on ice which was yummy and all good stuff to feed my skin.

This is going to be my new favourite place, for saunas and smoothies getting that glow and just general hanging out, I thoroughly recommend it.

As always any questions drop me a message and I promise not to leave it as long to the next post.

LOVE infrared saunas and sweating out the toxins, can’t take it hotter than 65 though! Best way to get over jet lag, that and an Epsom salt bath afterwards, heaven xx

I visited Monart Destination Spa in Ireland, earlier this year and tried the Infra-Red Pro Cabin for the first time. It felt lovely, but I had no idea of the range of benefits. Would love to try this again now and for longer.

It’s such a lovely feeling isn’t it? I’m kind of obsessed now. Especially as it starts to get cold and dark here. Thanks for your message. LS xx
